Nationals hit 6 home runs to beat Reds 10-4 at Great American Ball Park

The Washington Nationals left Cincinnati with a 10-4 win and a stack of baseballs headed for souvenirs. Six home runs powered the visitors, including two each from Daylen Lile and Luis García Jr., as Washington pulled away with a four-run fifth inning and never looked back. The Reds rallied for two in the ninth, but the Nationals bullpen held firm.
Power show: Lile and García Jr. headline a six-homer night
Washington’s lineup clicked from top to bottom. Lile went 3-for-5 with two homers and four RBI, while García Jr. matched the two long balls in a 3-for-5 line with two runs and two RBI. James Wood added a solo shot and Brady House launched one as well, driving in two.
The numbers were loud. Washington hit .333 with a .409 OBP, .846 SLG and a 1.255 OPS. CJ Abrams chipped in with a 2-for-4 day and a walk, keeping traffic on the bases all afternoon.
A fifth-inning surge breaks it open
The Nationals scored in five different frames, but the middle innings flipped the game. After two runs in the third and one in the fourth, Washington piled on four in the fifth to create separation, then added two more in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Cincinnati starter Brady Singer was tagged for three earned runs in 3.2 innings, allowing three home runs. Sam Moll followed and was hit for three runs in one-third of an inning. That stretch turned a close game into a comfortable Nationals lead.
Bullpen delivers the road win
Miles Mikolas opened for Washington with 3.1 innings of three-hit ball, allowing two runs, only one earned, with two strikeouts. The bullpen picked it up from there. Brad Lord earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts, and Paxton Schultz added two shutout frames with three Ks. Zak Kent finished the ninth and conceded two Reds runs late.
On the other side, Reds reliever Luis Mey was a bright spot with two innings and five strikeouts, yielding one earned run. Connor Phillips also worked 1.2 innings with two strikeouts and one earned run.
Reds create traffic, lack the big swing
Cincinnati collected 10 hits and scored two in the fourth and two in the ninth, but finished with zero home runs and left 28 on base. The Reds hit .263 with a .317 OBP and .606 OPS on the day. Sal Stewart led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs.
Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with a run, JJ Bleday reached four times with two hits and two walks and drove in two, and Matt McLain added an RBI. TJ Friedl stole a base. Defensively, the Nationals infield turned a key double play to help steady the game script.
