NHL Playoffs: Dorofeyev’s OT winner lifts Golden Knights 3-2 over Ducks

Pavel Dorofeyev scored twice, including the overtime clincher at 4:10, as the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 at T-Mobile Arena. The win pushes Vegas ahead 3-2 in the NHL Playoffs series in front of a loud, sold‑out crowd of 18,089.
Dorofeyev’s double sets the tone
The winger opened his night with a first‑period power‑play goal at 16:13, set up by Tomas Hertl and Jack Eichel. He sealed it in overtime from Eichel again, capping a 5-0 OT shots surge by Vegas. Dorofeyev finished with four shots and was named the game’s First Star.
Hertl powered the middle frame for Vegas too, scoring at 4:48 of the third to make it 2-1, with Rasmus Andersson and Brandon Saad collecting the assists.
Ducks answer back but run out of time
Anaheim struck first on the power play at 12:36 of the opening period through Beckett Sennecke, assisted by Cutter Gauthier and Mason McTavish. Olen Zellweger forced overtime with a late third‑period blast at 16:55, again fed by Gauthier and McTavish.
The Ducks carried long stretches at five‑on‑five in the second, outshooting Vegas 17-6 in the period. But they couldn’t find the winner in OT and were held without a shot before Dorofeyev ended it.
Goaltenders keep it tight
Carter Hart stood tall for the Golden Knights with 34 saves on 36 shots for a .944 save percentage. Lukas Dostal kept Anaheim in it at the other end, stopping 29 of 32 (.906).
Vegas blocked 18 shots to Anaheim’s 8, with Shea Theodore getting in front of four. Faceoffs tilted the Knights’ way at 53 percent, a small edge that helped settle the overtime rhythm.
Special teams and the story in numbers
Both power plays connected: Vegas went 1/1 and Anaheim 1/2. The Golden Knights also made their looks count, taking shots from closer range on average than the Ducks, 9.6 to 12.7.
Anaheim did control more possession by Corsi (52.8 percent) and had the better Fenwick by a hair (50.5 percent). Still, Vegas’ shot quality and OT push were decisive. The three stars on Sofascore were Dorofeyev, Hertl and Hart after a night where the box score and the clutch moments lined up for the hosts.
What it means for the series
The Golden Knights move 3-2 up in the series and are one win from advancing. Anaheim showed it can generate volume and score late, but it will need more in sudden death to flip the script.
