Al-Ahli come from behind to beat Vissel Kobe 2-1 in AFC Champions League Elite semi

Al-Ahli are through after a smart second-half turnaround in Jeddah. Vissel Kobe led at the break, but goals from Wenderson Galeno and Ivan Toney flipped the AFC Champions League Elite semifinal 2-1 at Alinma Stadium.
It was a game where the numbers backed the scoreline. Al-Ahli had 59% possession, led shots 16-5 and posted 1.68 xG to Kobe’s 0.64, per Sofascore. Daiya Maekawa’s six saves kept Kobe in it, but the pressure finally told.
Muto strikes first for Kobe
Yoshinori Muto gave Vissel Kobe a 31st-minute lead, finishing from close range after Yuya Osako nodded Katsuya Nagato’s cross into his path. It was a well-worked move down the left with sharp movement in the box.
Kobe carried that 1-0 to halftime despite Al-Ahli creating two big chances and hitting the woodwork. The hosts by venue had three shots on target before the break, but their xG edge already hinted Al-Ahli had more to come.
Millot and Galeno swing momentum
The equalizer arrived on 62 minutes. Enzo Millot slipped a neat ball into Galeno, who took a clean touch and fired in with his right foot. It capped a multi-phase attack sparked by Riyad Mahrez on the flank and showed the visitors’ growing control in midfield.
From there, Al-Ahli fully tilted the pitch. They won more duels overall (57%), owned the air (60% of aerials), and flooded the final third with quality. Cross accuracy told a story too, with Al-Ahli at 8 of 15 compared to Kobe’s 2 of 10.
