Blazers 106-103 Spurs: Scoot shines as Portland steals one in San Antonio

Portland Trail Blazers grabbed a 106-103 road win over the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Playoffs Western Conference first round at Frost Bank Center. In front of 19,338 fans, the 7‑seed leaned on a superstar night from Scoot Henderson and a cold-blooded finish to flip a game the 2‑seed Spurs led for long stretches.

Level at 57-57 at halftime and down 80-79 after three, Portland closed with a 27-23 fourth quarter. Robert Williams III pushed the Blazers ahead with a key bucket at 0:12. Devin Vassell trimmed it to one from the line with 0:11 left, before Toumani Camara sank two free throws at 0:06 to seal it.

Scoot sets the tone

Henderson was the difference. The Portland guard poured in 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, drilling 5-of-9 from deep and going 4-of-6 at the stripe. He added a block and a steal, finishing with a Sofascore Rating of 8.1.

He got timely help. Jrue Holiday logged 16 points and a game-high 9 assists, while Williams III delivered 11 points, 9 boards and 2 blocks, plus the late go-ahead basket. Camara filled the gaps with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals, and calmly iced the game at the line.

Spurs lead slips late

San Antonio controlled the tempo for most of the night, leading for 25:07 and by as many as 14. The hosts won the third quarter and owned the glass 45-43. But the fourth swung Portland’s way as the Spurs shot 7-of-23 from the field and 1-of-8 from three.

Rookie guard Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Vassell posted 16 points and 12 rebounds, and De’Aaron Fox added 17 points with 4 assists and 2 steals. Luke Kornet brought energy off the bench with 10 points, 9 rebounds and a team-best +11.

Numbers that turned it

– Three-pointers told the story. Portland hit 13 threes to San Antonio’s 7. In the fourth, the Blazers went 4-of-10 from deep while the Spurs managed 1-of-8.
– Rim protection mattered. The Blazers blocked 11 shots to the Spurs’ 5, with Williams III, Holiday and Clingan combining for 6.
– San Antonio created more steals (13-8) and got to the line more (20/28 vs 17/23), but couldn’t convert late chances.

Sofascore Rating leaders

Henderson topped all players with a Sofascore Rating of 8.1. For Portland, Robert Williams III posted 7.9, while Jrue Holiday and Toumani Camara each checked in at 7.6. On the Spurs side, Luke Kornet’s bench spark earned a 7.9, Devin Vassell recorded 7.5 and Stephon Castle posted 7.0.
