Wydad Casablanca vs Al Ain predictions: Casablanca can sign off with a win

&w=707&quality=100)
- Both Wydad and Al Ain lost their opening two matches at the FIFA Club World Cup
- Wydad did manage to score against Juventus, but Al Ain are still searching for a first goal
- Recommended bet: Wydad Casablanca to win
Unsurprisingly, Wydad Casablanca and Al Ain have been well off the pace in Group G, with the pair shipping six and 11 goals respectively in their two matches against European giants Manchester City and Juventus.
The pair have already been eliminated, meaning they will be playing for only pride when they clash at Audi Field in Washington DC on Thursday evening.
It is hard to have faith in either side, with each showing very little in their opening matches, but slight preference is for Wydad, who seemed to pose slightly more of a threat than their Asian opponents.
Team news
Ayoub Boucheta and Renan Viana were not included in Wyda’s Club World Cup squad, but they have no fresh injury concerns.
With their fate sealed, manager Mohamed Amine Benhachem could opt to give young forward Selemen Mwalimu the nod up front ahead of misfiring Samuel Obeng.
Al Ain have no reported injuries but Vladimir Ivic may choose to freshen up the starting XI after humbling 5-0 and 6-0 defeats.
Kodjo Laba and Kaku, two of their most exciting attacking players, were benched against City but could return to the line-up.
The stats
&w=707&quality=100)
Al Ain accumulated just 0.97 expected goals across their opening two FIFA Club World Cup matches.
Wydad, meanwhile, amassed 1.68 in their first two games, racking up 1.18 against Juventus.
Casablanca ended their league season with a 14-match unbeaten run.
Both teams to score has landed in just one of Al Ain’s last nine matches.
Seven of the 11 goals the UAE side have conceded at the CWC came in the first-half.
Wydad’s Thembinkosi Lorch is the only player on either team to have netted at this Club World Cup.
Prediction
While both of these sides are without a point after two games, Wydad showed marginally more than Al Ain against a pair of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The side from Casablanca found the net against Juventus and racked up 1.18 expected goals in that clash. They also avoided a rout against City, only losing 2-0, while Al Ain have had a much tougher time of things in the States.
Vladimir Ivic’s side were thrashed 5-0 by Juve in their opener before conceding one more without reply against the Citizens.
Worryingly, they amassed just 0.97 expected goals across those two defeats, less than Wydad managed against Juventus alone, and they rate the worse of the two poor sides battling it out for pride in the American capital.
