Daniel Udoh’s first-half equaliser gave second-placed Wycombe a 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened Crawley in Mike Dodds’ first league match in charge.

Crawley were given an early boost when Will Swan curled in a beauty, but Rob Elliot’s men struggled to maintain a threat in the second half in earning a vital point.

Wycombe looked the likelier to score in the closing stages and substitute Beryly Lubala’s dangerous cross eluded his team-mates in added time.

Crawley made a great start with former Mansfield forward Swan giving them the lead with their fastest goal of the season after only five minutes.

Swan curled in a fine goal with the outside of his right foot in front of the travelling fans after a neat one-two with Max Anderson.

Wycombe responded well and, after Fred Onyedinma had forced a fine save from Jojo Wollacott, the Chairboys levelled when Declan Skura’s ball forward found Udoh who beat Wollacott from close range in the 20th minute.

Canada midfielder Liam Fraser was brought on for his Crawley debut at the start of the second half and his through ball set up Rushian Hepburn-Murphy whose angled shot flew narrowly wide.

Hepburn-Murphy threatened again when he forced keeper Will Norris to make a scrambling save shortly after, but Wycombe went on to get more of a grip on the game.
