West Brom vs Watford predictions: Baggies can boost play-off aspirations

&w=707&quality=100)
- West Brom have lost only three of their 20 home league games this season
- Watford have won only three of their last 19 away league matches
- Recommended bet: West Brom to win and both teams to score
Just one point separates West Brom and Watford in the Championship table and this looks a must-win fixture for both if they are to make their presence felt in the play-offs.
The Baggies, five points behind sixth-placed Coventry, have dropped to eighth following a five-game winless run and have gone off the boil at the wrong time, while Watford are in a similar situation, having registered only two wins in their last seven.
However, with five games to go, there is still time providing that they get their acts together and the desperation for points could contribute to an entertaining encounter.
Tony Mowbray’s hosts have been pretty reliable at The Hawthorns this season and that may give them the edge against Watford, who have picked up only 17 of their 56 points on the road.
Team news
The Baggies are set to be without the services of Jayson Molumby, who is suspended following his dismissal against Bristol City on Tuesday, while star striker Josh Maja, Semi Ajayi and Jed Wallace are missing through injury.
However, winter arrival Tammer Bany is pushing for a start.
Watford are unlikely to see both Giorgi Chakvetadze or Kwadwo Baah involved for the remainder of the season and they join Yasser Larouci, Kevin Keben and Angelo Ogbonna on the sidelines.
The stats
&w=707&quality=100)
West Brom have lost only three of their 20 home league games this season.
Watford have lost 11 Championship away games this season, their most away defeats in a campaign outside of the Premier League since 2009-10.
Watford have only won one of their last 12 league visits to West Brom.
Both teams have scored in 10 of Watford’s last 15 away matches in the Championship.
West Brom have kept only two clean sheets in their last 19 Championship matches.
Prediction
Albion have slipped out of the Championship play-off positions following a five-game winless run but they often leave their best efforts for The Hawthorns and should respond with victory over a travel-sick Watford.
The Hornets have lost 11 of their 20 away league games this season and missing injured attackers Kwadwo Baah and Giorgi Chakvetadze will not help their cause against the Baggies.
Mowbray’s men have suffered just three defeats in 20 home league games this season and should be tough to beat, although only two clean sheets in their last 19 outings suggest there could be a consolation strike in it for the visitors.
