West Brom vs Luton Town: Stalemate could leave Hatters hopes in the balance

- West Brom have drawn 19 Championship matches which is the joint-highest in the division alongside Swansea
- Luton have lost just one of their last nine fixtures
- Recommended bet: Draw
Luton have battled hard to get out of the Championship relegation zone and will be aiming to finish the job by pushing for victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns.
The Bedfordshire side won three promotions between 2018 and 2023 but were relegated from the Premier League last season and are at risk of sliding another step down the English pyramid.
However, Matt Bloomfield’s side have shown improvement in recent weeks and moved out of the bottom three last Saturday with a 1-0 victory at home to Coventry.
West Brom had hoped to challenge for promotion but have fallen out of playoff contention after losing five of their last seven matches.
They stopped the rot with last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Cardiff which resulted in their opponents’ relegation to League One.
Team news
Out of contract West Brom duo John Swift and Grady Diangana have recently recovered from injuries and will be anxious to feature before ending their association with the West Midlands’ side. Long-term absentee Daryl Dike (Achilles) is pushing to make his first start of the season but fellow striker Josh Maja (calf) misses out.
Luton are stretched in attack with dynamic wide player Alfie Doughty sidelined by a muscle strain and attackers Jacob Brown (ankle) and Elijah Adebayo (knee) also out of contention. Defender Teden Mengi has started the last two matches after recovering from a knee injury.

The stats
West Brom have conceded 44 goals, which is the lowest among teams outside of the Championship’s top four.
Eleven of Albion’s last 14 games have featured fewer than three goals.
Luton have won their last three matches.
The Hatters have conceded fewer than two goals in each of their last nine fixtures.
Prediction
Luton need a win to make sure of Championship safety but they might have to be satisfied with a draw against West Brom, who are tough to beat on home soil.
The Hatters were 1-0 winners at Derby on their last road trip but they have generally struggled on their travels with only 15 points collected from 22 away games.
Bloomfield’s side would love to remove all doubt by claiming a fourth straight victory, but they will be up against an opponent determined to avoid defeat in front of a large home crowd.
Despite falling short of expectations the Baggies have sustained only four home league losses and they can claim a share of the spoils from their final match of the campaign.
