- West Brom fifth after their midweek away draw at Burnley
- Hull rose up to 18th following their comeback win against Oxford

- Recommended Bet: Both teams to score

West Brom took the lead at Burnley on Tuesday through John Swift’s fine free-kick, but the Clarets quickly equalised, leaving the Baggies needing to bounce back as they look to secure their place in the Championship play-offs.

Visitors Hull City leapfrogged Oxford United after they came back from being a goal down at home to win 2-1 thanks to an effort from Joe Gelhartdt and an own goal by James Cumming.

Team news

Darnell Furlong serves the second match of a three-game suspension for the hosts, but Kyle Bartley could return for the Baggies.

Semi Ajayi, Jed Wallace and Josh Maja are all definitely ruled out due to injuries.

Joao Pedro, Gustavo Puerta and Oscar Zambrano are suspended for the Tigers, while Cody Drameh, Louie Barry, Eliot Matazo, Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi are all injured.

The stats

West Brom have faced top three sides in both of their two most recent away matches, drawing 1-1 at both Leeds United and Burnley.

Hull’s victory over Oxford on Wednesday was their third win from their last five games and the Tigers have found the net in five of their six most recent matches.

Albion have won seven of their previous nine matches at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies won 2-1 at Hull earlier this season and have claimed victory in eight of the last 10 meetings of these two teams.

Prediction

West Bromwich Albion will be pleased to be back at The Hawthorns, with their long wait for an away win continuing in midweek.

While draws at Burnley and before that, Leeds were creditable results, it does mean that Albion have not won on the road since defeating Hull 2-1 in the reverse fixture back in November.

Yet at home they have been regularly winning games, keeping them in the play-off positions, though without much margin for error, with seventh-placed Bristol City only two points away and the rest of the chasing pack not far behind.

So, the Tigers will be facing motivated opponents, which is an element that they are not short of themselves, as they look to climb away from the Championship relegation zone.

Three wins for the visitors in their last five games makes it clear that it is best to avoid predicting the result in this one, despite West Brom’s home form, with goals from both teams looking more of a certainty.
