Weekend acca predictions: Five teams to back across Europe

Another weekend, another set of fascinating coupons from across Europe and we've got soft spots for the likes of Konyaspor, Angers and RKC Waalwijk.

Sunday, 1pm

Samsunspor have turned into a surprise top-four contender in the Turkish Super Lig, but their away form is still suspect.

Thomas Reis' side have scored just one goal in their last five away games.

Reis is also concerned that a number of departures in the transfer window will be a negative while the trip to Konya sees them run up against a side they lost 1-0 at home to in September.

Sunday, 1.30pm

There are bigger footballing news stories going on around Europe, but the recent revival of RKC Waalwijk is worthy of note in the Netherlands and perhaps being under-rated.

Waalwijk are in serious relegation danger but they are still one place and nine points better off than they were three games ago courtesy of a 2-0 win over Willem II, a 4-1 success at Almere and a 5-0 drubbing of NAC Breda.

Coach Henk Fraser is adamant this is no flash in the pan and convinced they can continue their winning streak at sixth-placed Twente.

This game comes at an awkward time for Twente sandwiched between two Europa League ties against Bodo/Glimt, they have thrown away leads in each of their last two Eredivisie games against Go Ahead (2-2) and Heerenveen (3-3) and they are missing suspended left-back Bas Kuipers.

They drew 2-2 earlier in the season and Waalwijk are way too big to avoid defeat in the Grolsch Veste.

Sunday, 2pm

Alessandro Nesta has returned to Monza with little having changed as they remain at the foot of the table
Alessandro Nesta has returned to Monza with little having changed as they remain at the foot of the table

Forty-nine days after being sacked by Monza, Alessandro Nesta is back as head coach — and nothing has changed.

They were bottom when he left in December, they are still bottom now and four straight defeats were enough to see Salvatore Bocchetti axed.

Nesta has a tough job on his hands with a treatment room full to bursting, while Lecce are improving and have won two of their last three away games.

Sunday, 2.30pm

Playing Hoffenheim on Sunday brings back happy memories for Bremen of their meeting in Sinsheim in September when they mounted a stunning comeback from 3-0 down to win 4-3.

An early red card to Hoffenheim's Stanley Nsoki helped Bremen's cause, but that was just one of a stack of low points in a poor campaign for Hoffenheim which has featured Europa League failure and the prospect of a relegation fight.

They have won only once since the end of November, are blighted by injuries, concede over two goals per game and this looks like a golden opportunity for a Bremen side who are somehow on the periphery of the European qualification conversation.

Sunday, 4.15pm

Reims have won more points away than at home; Angers have won more points away than at home.

With just one point and one place between them, and Reims on a winless run in Ligue 1 stretching back to November, take the visitors to deliver on Sunday.
