Sky Bet League Two leaders Walsall came from behind to end a five-game winless run by beating Chesterfield 3-1.

The visitors led via a short corner on eight minutes, Dylan Duffy floating in a first-time centre for captain Jamie Grimes to loop home a fine header.

It should have been 2-0 after 26 minutes, but an unmarked Bim Pepple blazed over Duffy’s low cross into the six-yard box.

Another Chesterfield chance went begging as Pepple threaded Duffy clear but as he pulled the trigger, Harry Williams produced a goal-saving block.

Walsall turned the game on its head with two goals from Taylor Allen corners in three minutes after the break.

Jamille Matt hooked them level from a David Okagbue knockdown in the 52nd minute before Ellis Harrison headed in another deep delivery from close range.

After weathering heavy pressure, Walsall sealed the points in the 11th minute of added time as Evan Weir broke swiftly to cross for Levi Amantchi to side-foot home.

The Saddlers move eight points clear at the top after the victory, while Chesterfield slip seven points adrift of the play-offs after a sixth away defeat in eight matches.
