First-half goals from Luke Garbutt and Tyrese Fornah helped Salford to their third-straight League Two win as they beat Barrow 3-0.

With the game starting to peter out, Kylian Kouassi struck the final blow with 10 minutes remaining.

Initially, there had been little to choose between the sides until Garbutt struck after 21 minutes.

His delightful curler from a free-kick was crying out for a final touch as it bounced dangerously in the box, but it somehow evaded everyone and sneaked into the top corner of the goal.

Salford doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark, when Matty Lund sent the ball across the edge of the box to Fornah.

The midfielder’s finish was not cleanly-hit but had enough power and direction on it to find its way into the bottom corner via a deflection.

Barrow had threatened occasionally in the first half but Sam Foley sent two shots way off the mark and Kian Spence was inches wide with a free-kick.

Early in the second half, Elliot Newby looked to have halved Barrow’s deficit but an offside flag – barely visible in the thickening fog – cut short the celebrations.

Moments later Fornah went close to making it 3-0 but Paul Farman got across to get a vital hand to the ball.

Kouassi did complete the scoring after 80 minutes with a smart finish into the bottom corner.

The only negative for Salford was a second yellow card for Fornah late in the day for a reckless challenge on Spence.
