Manchester United have turned their attention to Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot after their latest bid for Chelsea wantaway Mason Mount was rejected.

The Red Devils are in the market to strengthen their midfield but the Blues are playing hardball when it comes to the sale of one of their own.

Rabiot, 28, will be available as a free agent at the end of the week and United could move for the Frenchman to bolster their options.

The Athletic report that contact has already been made with the midfield maestro, who clocked 32 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady last season.

Rabiot tallied 12 goal contributions in the league for Juve but looks set to depart after nearly four years in Italy.

The 36-cap international has previously spoken of his desire to play in the Premier League and could pounce at the opportunity to feature under Erik ten Hag.

Although a deal would not require a transfer fee, the former Paris Saint-Germain man would require a huge wage and signing-on bonus to make him one of the highest-paid players at the club.

The report indicates that United are working to shift several players, including Donny van de Beek, Fred, Anthony Elanga, Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho, to free up funds.
