Manchester United and Newcastle are set to battle it out for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in January.

The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the Frenchman, who was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer.

Erik ten Hag was said to be keen on making another attempt to sign the 28-year-old in June before he signed a one-year extension at Juve.

United are now eyeing a January deal but will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.

The Magpies are keen to add some European experience to their ranks and believe the 38-cap international would be a handy addition as their Champions League campaign continues.

Rabiot joined Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has gone on to make 182 appearances, winning the Serie A title in his first season.

He has enjoyed a resurgence under Massimiliano Allegri last term, scoring eight goals and notching four assists in the league.
