Tranmere extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 2-0 win over Cheltenham as they took a huge step towards securing their League Two status for next season.

A first half Kristian Dennis header and in injury-time strike from Cameron Norman made the difference as Rovers moved further clear of the relegation places.

The home side were almost ahead as early as the third minute when Norman latched onto a deep cross but was unable to force the ball home from close range.

At the other end, Timothee Dieng had a glorious opportunity to give the visitors the lead, but headed over from six yards with only Luke McGee to beat.

Moments later Rovers broke the deadlock when Dennis connected with a Josh Hawkes corner to head the ball past Joe Day in the Town goal.

The hosts went in search of a second after the interval with Omari Patrick, Sam Finley and Regan Hendry all coming close, before Norman sealed it in the third minute of stoppage-time.
