Walsall maintained their grip on the race for automatic promotion with a battling 2-2 draw at Bromley in Sky Bet League Two.

The Saddlers twice came from behind to rescue a point from the contest at Hayes Lane.

Bromley took the lead early in the first half with a 20-yard strike from Ben Thompson.

Substitute Levi Amantchi came close to equalising against his former club but he skied his effort after good work from Connor Barrett.

Amantchi did not miss on the stroke of half-time. A hooked ball fell to the striker in the six-yard box and he did well to turn and smash home amidst a crowd of bodies.

The hosts regained their lead 10 minutes into the second half when Harry McKirdy brilliantly lobbed Sam Hornby for his first Bromley goal.

However, the Ravens were pegged back by Jamille Matt’s 12th goal of the season, the striker getting on the end of Barrett’s cross to poke home beyond Grant Smith with 20 minutes remaining.

The draw extends Walsall’s lead at the top of the table to three points.
