Sunderland vs Hull predictions: Black Cats can extend excellent home record

&w=707&quality=100)
- Sunderland are unbeaten in 16 home league matches this season
- Hull have won just four of their last 25 games
- Recommended bet: Sunderland -1 on 3-way handicap
Sunderland are looking increasingly likely to have to settle for a place in the Championship play-offs this season but they can get back to winning ways when they host Hull on Saturday.
The Black Cats had a decent crack at taking down rampant leaders Leeds at Elland Road on Monday night, leading 1-0 through a Wilson Isidor goal until they were sunk by two late strikes from Pascal Struijk, with the winner coming five minutes into added time.
Sunderland's goal was the first Leeds had conceded in seven league matches, but the narrow defeat left the Wearside club eight points behind the top two in fourth place.
With a comfortable advantage of 15 points over seventh-placed Coventry, the Black Cats should at least have a chance at promotion through the play-offs this season, but for now they will be looking to extend their 16-match unbeaten home record in the league.
Hull have shown some recent progress to climb off the bottom of the standings and sit just outside the relegation places in 21st, one point above Derby, who have played one game more.
Ruben Selles's team had won three in a row on the road before losing 2-0 to Burnley on their last away mission, but they have suffered three defeats in their last five games overall.
Team news
Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris was able to strengthen his squad when Romaine Mundle and Alan Browne returned from injury on the bench against Leeds on Monday but he fielded an unchanged starting line-up and has no new injury issues.
Hull's Fin Burns, Charlie Hughes and Kasey Palmer are all close to returning to fitness but this game may still come too soon for them.
Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi are still injured and Oscar Zambrano is suspended.
The stats
&w=707&quality=100)

Sunderland have scored in 15 of their 16 home league games.
Four of Sunderland's last five Championship matches have gone over 2.5 goals.
Five of Hull's seven league wins this season have come on the road.
Seven of Hull's nine Championship draws this season have finished 1-1.
Hull have won only one of their last 13 matches against Sunderland.
Only one goal has been scored in each of the last three meetings between these teams.
Prediction
Sunderland have an ideal opportunity to get back on track with a home match at their Stadium of Light fortress against a side battling relegation and they are fancied to secure a comfortable success by more than one goal.
The defeat at Leeds was only Sunderland's second loss in their last 16 games and Hull could struggle to keep out a Black Cats side who had scored nine goals in their previous four matches.
Hull have scored more than one goal only once in their last seven games and while they have faced a tough schedule, with top-half teams Burnley, Sheffield United and Norwich among their last four opponents, things do not get any easier for them with a trip to Sunderland.
While Sunderland came up just short in their effort to upset the leaders on Monday, they should make their quality count against the Tigers to win by at least two goals.
