Stevenage finished 2024 in style with a 3-0 home victory over 10-man Bristol Rovers.

Elliott List put the hosts in front after 34 minutes, connecting to an inch-perfect Luther Wildin cross with a diving header.

Rovers, in their first match under new boss Inigo Calderon, would have been annoyed no foul given in the build-up, the game continuing with Promise Omochere down.

Striker Omochere had the visitors’ only chance of the first period soon after but pulled it wide.

There were signs at the start of the second half of Calderon’s desire to pass his way out of trouble, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed by a second yellow card for Jamie Lindsay on 53 minutes and compounded by Jordan Roberts scoring at the post from the subsequent free-kick.

From there the result was never in doubt.

Roberts had the ball in the net again but Jamie Reid, who delivered the cross, was flagged offside.

But the pair combined on 88 minutes to get the third, Roberts this time feeding Reid with the right-wing cross.
