- Paris Saint-Germain have won six of their last seven games

Over 3.5 goals

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a shock defeat to Botafogo last time out, but the European champions have the chance to bounce back and secure qualification to the knockout phase of the Club World Cup against Seattle Sounders.

Luis Enrique's men currently hold second place in Group B, having thrashed Atletico Madrid 4-0 in their opener, and can take out their frustrations of the Botafogo defeat on bottom side Seattle, who still have home advantage but have lost their opening two games.

Team news

Prolific forward Ousmane Dembele is still struggling with a thigh injury and is unlikely to be risked by PSG until the knockout stages of the competition.

Kalani Kossa-Rienzi is likely to miss out for the Sounders after being withdrawn early in their 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid last time out.

Paul Arriola is also unavailable, but head coach Brian Schmetzer has an otherwise clean bill of health at his disposal.

The stats

Brian Schmetzer's Seattle Sounders have lost both games so far and may struggle to contain PSG's attacking flair

Seattle have conceded 11 goals in their last four matches.

Paris Saint-Germain have won six of their last seven games, and 30 of their last 38.

There have been 28 goals in PSG’s last eight matches.

Both teams have scored in seven of Seattle’s last eight games.

PSG have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four matches.

Seattle have the rare luxury in this tournament of home advantage but have lost both games at Lumen Field so far.

Prediction

PSG looked to have had qualification to the Club World Cup knockout stages in the bag after their opening 4-0 success over Atletico Madrid, but Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Botafogo means the Parisians need to beat Seattle to be sure of a place in the next round.

That should not be a problem for the Champions League winners, who hold a clear edge in class and quality over the Sounders and a focused PSG performance should spell trouble for Brian Schmetzer’s men.

The Sounders conceded an expected goals total of 3.26 in their 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid and Seattle have now conceded 11 goals in their last four matches.

Schmetzer’s men did register 23 efforts on goal in their 2-1 loss to Botafogo, and while they are unlikely to keep PSG’s prolific attack at bay, the Sounders may be able to contribute to a high-scoring contest.

Taking over 3.5 goals would keep a comfortable PSG success on side, while also receiving a boost should the Sounders find the net, and that looks the best way to play this Lumen Field tie.
