Rob Apter’s hat-trick in 12 second-half minutes handed Blackpool a 3-1 win at Stevenage.

He opened the scoring after 56 minutes, sweeping in from just outside the box, before firing another across home goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond when he got in himself.

The hat-trick goal saw Ashley Fletcher find the space and it meant the easiest pass for the easiest of tap-ins.

They almost had a fourth when Sonny Carey hit the bar but moments later Carl Piergianni headed a lifeline for Boro after 77 minutes.

And they thought they had a second when an Elliott List header was helped in by Dan Kemp. He was in an offside position though.

The first half provided typical end of season fare that was never going to thrill the Bank Holiday crowd.

Neither side offered much of an attacking threat in the first half, although the Seasiders should have scored after four minutes, Lee Evans shooting straight at Ashby-Hammond when he had time to pick his spot.

Boro had a lot of possession in that 45 minutes but Kemp had their only attempt on goal.
