Two teams in good form in the Championship meet at Deepdale on Saturday as Preston entertain Burnley.

North End are 15th in the table, but Paul Heckingbottom's side have only lost one of their last six in the second tier and they are only seven points outside the play-offs with three months of the season remaining.

Burnley last lost in November and that form has pushed them to within three points of second-placed Sheffield United in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Team news

Preston winger Robbie Brady remains sidelined with a back injury and is not expected to return until the end of the month.

Ben Whiteman, Jordan Storey, Emil Riis, and Jack Whatmough all missed Tuesday's 1-0 win over Norwich City and will need to prove their fitness ahead of Saturday's battle with the Clarets.

Burnley trio Mike Tresor, Aaron Ramsey, and Jordan Beyer are all still sidelined, while Josh Brownhill and Luca Koleosho both missed the 2-0 success over Hull City on Wednesday and will need to pass fitness tests to be named in the squad.

The stats

Preston have only lost one of their last eight in all competitions, with rivals Blackburn getting the better of them last month.

Heckingbottom's team have not lost any of their last 10 games at Deepdale, while they have only lost twice in front of their own supporters this season in the Championship.

After keeping another clean sheet in the win over Hull on Wednesday, Burnley became the first club in the history of the second tier to not concede a goal in 10 consecutive league games.

Burnley have the best away record in the Championship, having earned 32 points from 16 away matches.

The Clarets have only conceded five goals and lost twice away from home and they will expect to keep things tight on Saturday.

The two sides last met in October, with neither team able to trouble the scoresheet in a goalless draw at Turf Moor.

Prediction

The previous meeting between these two clubs should be a decent marker for what could happen on Saturday in Lancashire.

Preston have conceded the most fouls in the Championship and they will look to keep things tight against Scott Parker's Burnley.

The Clarets are so well-drilled defensively, and they rarely give chances away. To only concede nine goals by February is an incredible achievement, and Parker's side will look to keep things tight themselves as they try to keep pace with Leeds and Sheffield United.

Expect a cagey and nerve-wracking clash, and a single goal either way could decide it.
