Portugal vs Spain predictions: La Roja to be too hot for A Selecao

&w=707&quality=100)
- Portugal won the inaugural Nations League
- Spain are the defending champions
- Recommended bet: Spain to win
History will be made on Sunday when Portugal and Spain meet at the Allianz Arena in Munich for the final of the 2024-25 Nations League.
No team has won this newly created tournament more than once, but that will change as these one-time Nations League winners clash in Germany.
Portugal claimed the spoils in the inaugural edition in 2018-19, beating the Netherlands in the final, while Spain overcame Croatia 5-4 on penalties to lift the trophy in 2022-23.
Team news
Portugal boss Roberto Martinez could be tempted to make a tweak in midfield, with Vitinha impressing when coming on as a second-half substitute for Ruben Neves against Germany.
Nelson Semedo could also be brought in at right-back in place of Joao Neves.
Spain are expected to stick with the same starting XI that overcame France, with Mikel Oyarzabal, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal forming the attacking trio.

The stats
Portugal are in the final of the Nations League for the first time since they won the inaugural edition in 2018.
Martinez's troops came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 in the semi-finals, extending their winning run to two matches.
Spain, runners-up in this event in 2019, won the final last year after edging out Croatia and they are just one victory away from becoming the first back-to-back winners.
La Roja are on a 19-game unbeaten streak, a run that witnessed them win the 2024 European Championships after beating England 2-1 in the final in Berlin.
Spain won the last meeting against Portugal in the Nations League in 2022, coming out on top 1-0.
Prediction
It has been a fantastic period for Spain, who won their fourth European Championships last year and are now eager to follow that up with a successful defence of their Nations League crown.
Luis de la Fuente's side have won six times and drawn three matches since that Euros success and despite the scoreline being close against France in the semi-finals last time out, La Roja were the better team.
Spain were 4-0 and 5-1 up in that last-four encounter and there was certainly a sense that they took their foot off the gas, allowing Les Bleus the opportunity to get back into the contest.
A more rounded display is expected against Portugal, who did well to record that comeback victory against Germany and have pedigree in this competition having won the inaugural edition.
However, Martinez's troops face a difficult test to overcome this rampant Spanish outfit and A Selecao may fall just short in their bid for a second title.
