The battle for a Champions League spot has gone to the final day with both of these teams likely to need a win at the City Ground to get over the line.

Chelsea are currently a point ahead of Nottingham Forest, meaning the Tricky Trees need a victory to overtake them.

Team news

Omari Kellyman, Wesley Fofana and Nicolas Jackson are set to miss out for Chelsea through a combination of injuries and suspension but the Blues have been handed a few injury boosts as Marc Guiu and Christopher Nkunku have been passed fit.

Jadon Sancho also returns after being unable to face his parent club Manchester United last time out.

Taiwo Awoniyi is absent for the hosts while Murillo faces a late fitness test.

The stats

Chelsea have lost their last three Premier League away games on the final day of the season.

Nottingham Forest have only lost to one of the top seven at home this season, a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle.

Seven of Chelsea’s last 10 Premier League matches have gone under 2.5 goals.

Forest’s Matz Sels is level with David Raya on 13 clean sheets, the most in the top flight.

Prediction

With all three of the other contenders for a Champions League place odds-on to win their final-day matches, this clash between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea will be crucial in deciding who secures the coveted top-five spot.

Enzo Maresca’s side are in the drivers’ seat but their away form this season is a big concern, particularly against the top sides.

The Blues have lost all five of their road trips against fellow Champions League contenders and could run aground again by the River Trent.

The visitors made heavy weather of beating a dismal Manchester United side last time out and an ultra-motivated Nottingham Forest in front of their home support will be a different case altogether.

The Tricky Trees have already beaten Manchester City and Aston Villa at the City Ground this season and held Arsenal and Liverpool to stalemates so look worth siding with in the draw no bet market.
