- Norway Women came from behind to beat tournament hosts Switzerland 2-1 on Wednesday
- Finland Women booked their place at Euro 2025 with 2-0 aggregate win over Scotland in play-offs
- Recommended bet: Under 1.5 goals

Norway Women meet Finland Women in Group A at Euro 2025 this weekend and both teams had successful starts to their campaigns on Wednesday.

Norway recovered from a poor first half against Switzerland to beat the tournament hosts 2-1, despite star striker Ada Hegerberg missing a second-half penalty.

Finland took advantage of a 58th-minute red card for Iceland's Hildur Antonsdottir to claim three points on matchday one thanks to an excellent strike from Katariina Kosola with 20 minutes to go.

Team news

Norway Women could be unchanged after their opening victory over Switzerland. Wolfsburg defender Guro Bergsvand pulled out of the squad last month so Marthine Ostenstad was called up from the standby list.

Finland Women centre-back Natalia Kuikka recovered from injury in time for the opening game but fellow defender Elli Pikkujamsa did not make the squad. Adelina Engman (thigh) was ruled out of the Euros and replaced by Anni Hartikainen.

The stats

Norway Women have suffered only three defeats in their last 19 competitive fixtures, while there have been under 2.5 goals in five of their last six games.

Norway beat Albania 14-0 on aggregate and Northern Ireland 7-0 on aggregate in the play-offs.

Both teams have scored in only one of Finland Women's last 12 competitive games and the Finns have kept nine clean sheets in their last 11 matches.

Finland have won only one of their 14 previous meetings with Norway.

Prediction

Norway and Finland were in the same Euro 2025 qualifying group and their two meetings produced a 4-0 home victory for the Norwegians and a 1-1 draw in the return fixture.

Norway have a solid head-to-head record against Finland, winning nine of their 14 previous meetings, but they may have to work hard to take maximum points on Sunday.

The favourites have a host of big-name attacking talents including Hegerberg, the inaugural winner of the women's Ballon d'Or, Arsenal's Frida Maanum, Barcelona's Caroline Graham Hansen and Chelsea's Guro Reiten.

However, the national team has been less than the sum of its parts in recent years and backing under 1.5 goals looks a tempting bet on matchday two.

Finland's 1-0 win over 10-player Iceland on Wednesday featured their ninth clean sheet in 11 competitive matches.

Most of those shutouts came against weaker opponents than Norway but Finland impressed in the Euro 2025 play-offs, holding Scotland to a 0-0 draw in the away leg before winning 2-0 at home.

Their opening victory means a stalemate would be a decent result for the Finns going into their final group fixture against Switzerland.

A low-scoring game is expected when they face Norway, whose six Nations League results this year included a 0-0 draw with Iceland, a 1-0 defeat to France and a 1-0 win over the Swiss.
