Newcastle vs Crystal Palace predictions: More Magpies magic on Tyneside

&w=707&quality=100)
- Newcastle sit fourth in the Premier League, a point behind Nottingham Forest
- Crystal Palace are 12th, level on points with Brentford
- Recommended bet: Newcastle to win and both teams to score
In-form Newcastle United can move up to third in the Premier League standings when they welcome Crystal Palace to St James' Park on Wednesday.
The Magpies have won five matches in a row across all competitions – the highlight being their Carabao Cup triumph over Liverpool at Wembley – and another success this midweek would further strengthen their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.
Mid-table Palace will head to Tyneside having themselves been in impressive form, although their eight-game unbeaten run was brought to an end in emphatic fashion at the weekend, as they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 5-2 at Manchester City.
Team news
Newcastle came through Sunday's 4-1 win over Manchester United with no fresh injury concerns and Joe Willock, who missed that match due to concussion protocols, could now return.
Long-term absentees Lewis Hall (foot), Jamaal Lascelles (knee) and Sven Botman (knee) remain unavailable, while it is still unclear whether head coach Eddie Howe will be back in the dugout after he was recently hospitalised.
The Eagles will be boosted by the availability of Marc Guehi and Eddie Nketiah, who both missed the defeat at City through suspension, while Romain Esse and Matt Turner are bidding to return following illness.
Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure (both knee) remain the only long-term absentees for manager Oliver Glasner.

The stats
Newcastle have won five matches in a row – four Premier League successes and their cup final triumph over Liverpool – and they have scored 12 goals during that period.
The Magpies have won six of their last eight top-flight matches at St James' Park, scoring two or more goals in all of those victories.
Palace were unbeaten in eight matches across all competitions, winning seven of those, prior to Saturday's 5-2 loss to Man City.
That defeat at the Etihad Stadium also ended the Eagles' 10-match unbeaten away run in the Premier League, a sequence that stretched back to October.
These two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park earlier in the season – Daniel Munoz grabbing a 94th-minute equaliser for Palace that day after Guehi had put through his own net – while their last meeting at St James' Park, in October 2023, ended in a 4-0 Newcastle win.
Prediction
This will be a meeting of two of the Premier League's form sides over the spring, but while Newcastle are still riding the crest of that wave, Palace may be reeling after not only losing away to City, but also the manner of that defeat.
Throwing away a two-goal lead and conceding five goals is sure to have knocked the Eagles’ confidence and, although the return of Guehi should help tighten things up at the back, they may struggle to contain this rampant Newcastle side.
The Magpies are scoring freely, netting seven across their last two matches alone against Leicester and Man Utd, although the clean sheet they kept away to the Foxes is one of only two they have managed across their last 10 games in all competitions.
With Palace having netted in 18 consecutive matches, they are more than capable of finding the back of the net at St James', but stopping Newcastle from collecting the three points may be a much tougher proposition.
