Millwall's recent unbeaten run ended in significant style, going down 5-1 at Plymouth on Wednesday and they next host a West Brom side who lost 2-0 at home to Blackburn on the same evening.

Millwall start the weekend 14th in the table, seven points shy of West Brom, who occupy the final play-off place.

The duo have drawn their last four meetings — playing out a 0-0 at The Hawthorns in October — and could cancel each other out again on Saturday.

Team news

Millwall remain without Josh Coburn, who broke his foot in December. Dan McNamara (knee) and Ryan Leonard (muscular) are also absent.

Baggies defender Kyle Bartley serves the second game of his three-match ban following his sending off against Sheffield Wednesday and in response to their struggles at the back against Blackburn, Mason Holgate could be replaced by Semi Ajayi.

Forward Josh Maja is also sidelined with a calf problem but January signing Tammer Bany could be involved for the first time since his January arrival from Danish club Randers.

The stats

Millwall had won four in a row in all competitions prior to their midweek defeat at Plymouth, but they have lost four of their last seven at home in the league.

West Brom have failed to win any of their last nine away games in all competitions and have only triumphed in one of their last 12 visits to The Den.

On-loan West Brom forward Adam Armstrong has recorded seven goal involvements in his 10 previous league outings against Millwall (4 goals, 3 assists).

These two teams have drawn their last four meetings — playing out a 0-0 at The Hawthorns in October.

Prediction

Tony Mowbray is aiming to improve West Brom's away form

Both sides looked tired on Wednesday, and this is the point in the season when the number of games teams have played makes fatigue an inevitable byproduct for all involved.

Results at The Den have not been good enough for Millwall and Alex Neil is still trying to get his message across after his appointment in December.

Tony Mowbray is also a recent arrival, albeit a returning one at The Hawthorns, and his team have looked far more expansive under his guidance, having been almost obsessively conservative under predecessor Carlos Corberan.

However, that has left them fragile at the back, especially without Bartley, but Millwall may not have enough to take advantage.

The last four meetings have finished in draws and a repeat of that outcome could occur on Saturday.
