Matt Taylor’s first game as Solihull Moors boss ended with a 2-0 home defeat by Halifax in their Vanarama National League match at the ARMCO Arena.
The visitors went ahead in the fourth minute through a close-range finish from Andrew Oluwabori.
Halifax made a bright start to the second half and doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Owen Bray converted a ball into the box from substitute Luca Thomas.
Moors – who saw Andy Whing departed to become new head coach at Sky Bet League Two club Barrow – had a couple of chances to get back into the game during the closing stages.
Jack Stevens fired over from a free-kick before Alex Whitmore’s header from a corner went straight at Halifax goalkeeper Sam Johnson as the Shaymen extended their unbeaten run to six league games to close the gap to the play-off places.
