Manchester United vs Ipswich predictions: Red Devils' misery could continue

&w=707&quality=100)
- Ipswich have avoided defeat in three of their last four away games
- Manchester United have lost five of their last six Premier League home fixtures
- Recommended bet: Ipswich or draw double chance
The Premier League season is more than two thirds complete and time is running out for Manchester United to salvage something from the wreckage of a miserable campaign.
The Red Devils approach their contest at home to third-bottom Ipswich with 30 points on the board, although they are 13 points clear of the drop zone and should at least avoid the ignominy of a first relegation since the 1973-74 campaign.
However, they appear highly likely to finish inside the bottom half for the first time since 1989-90 when they were at least compensated by lifting the FA Cup.
United came from two goals down in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Everton, but will be targeting a victory over the Tractor Boys, who look set for an immediate return to the Championship.
Ipswich are the highest placed of the newly promoted teams, but they lost 4-1 at home to Tottenham on Saturday and finished the weekend five points inside the relegation places.
Team news
United are stretched due to an extensive injury list featuring Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Mason Mount, Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans.
Martinez and Diallo have been ruled out for the rest of the season, but there was better news at the weekend with Leny Yoro, Christian Eriksen, Manuel Ugarte returning to the squad.
Axel Tuanzebe is available for Town after suspension, but Kalvin Phillips (calf), Jens-Lys Cajuste (ankle) and Conor Chaplin (knee) are doubts.
Wes Burns, Julio Encisco (both knee), Chiedozie Ogbene (Achilles) and Christian Walton (groin) are all ruled out.
The stats
United have kept only one clean sheet in their last 13 Premier League matches and have conceded the opening goal in five of their last six league fixtures.
The Red Devils have conceded at least two goals in five of their last six home league games.
Ipswich have lost five of their last six Premier League fixtures and both teams have scored in each of Town’s last five matches.
Five of Ipswich’s last six games have generated at least three goals.
Prediction
Ipswich are having a tough season, but they have amassed 10 of their 17 points from away matches and can avoid defeat against United at Old Trafford.
The Tractor Boys have suffered some heavy home defeats, including Saturday’s 4-1 reverse at home to resurgent Tottenham, but they have shown greater resilience on their travels and dug out a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on their last road trip.
Ipswich drew 1-1 at home to United last November after recovering from the concession of Marcus Rashford’s second-minute opener.
They should be just as competitive against an injury-ravaged United side and look overpriced to earn at least a share of the spoils.
