Manchester United vs Aston Villa predictions: More woe in store for Red Devils

&w=707&quality=100)
- Manchester United draw the curtain down on a miserable season
- Aston Villa have their eyes firmly set on the Champions League
- Recommended bet: Aston Villa to win to nil
Aston Villa are in the thick of an intriguing last-day dogfight to determine who will be in next season’s Champions League and they will fancy their chances of gaining three points at Manchester United.
Their hosts were dismal in their 1-0 Europa League final against Tottenham on Wednesday and with no quick fix in sight at Old Trafford, the odds are firmly in the favour of their visitors from the Midlands.
Team news
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim may ring the changes following the disappointment of their Europa League defeat, but both Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt are ruled out.
For Villa, Marcus Rashford would not be allowed to play against his parent club even if he was fit and midfielder Youri Tielemans is also injured. Jacob Ramsey should be back in contention after being sent off for two bookings in the 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

The stats
Aston Villa have won eight of their last nine Premier League matches.
Manchester United have failed to score in their last three games, against West Ham and Chelsea in the league and Tottenham in the Europa League.
United have lost six of their last eight league outings.
The only teams United have beaten in their last 14 league matches are relegated pair Leicester and Ipswich.
Villa have won four of their last five matches on the road without conceding.
Prediction
Strong form in the closing weeks of the Premier League campaign has given Aston Villa an excellent chance of claiming a top-five spot in the final reckoning and this looks the ideal time for Unai Emery’s team to be heading to Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s miserable season reached its nadir in Bilbao on Wednesday when they hardly showed up for their Europa League final against Tottenham, which was the third straight game in which Ruben Amorim’s side have failed to find the net.
The Red Devils were toothless in attack and it is difficult to see them threatening an Aston Villa goal that has been penetrated in just one of their last five league matches on the road.
Villa’s only defeat in that run came at Manchester City when they were sunk by a goal in injury-time and confidence appears to be flowing through Emery’s side, which is in complete contrast to United.
A lack of punch up front must be one of Amorim’s greatest concerns, as United hardly laid a finger on Spurs, so the value in this instance looks to be to back Villa to come out on top and maintain another clean sheet.
