- Millwall are also without a league win under Alex Neil

New Luton boss Matt Bloomfield and recently arrived Millwall chief Alex Neil have yet to taste victory in the Championship as they prepare to clash in a huge game at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters are currently down inside the relegation zone, while the Lions have seen a potential play-off push disintegrate and become a battle to stay clear of danger.

Team news

Left-sided star Alfie Doughty could make his first start for Luton since early November after coming off the bench in Tuesday's 3-2 loss at Oxford.

Defenders Reece Burke and Teden Mengi and midfielder Shandon Baptiste are still out, but Tahith Chong and Lamine Fanne could be in contention.

Millwall are without right-sided defenders Ryan Leonard and Danny McNamara after both limped out of Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Cardiff.

The stats

Luton are without a win in seven matches in all competitions, six of those losses. They have one point out of six under new boss Bloomfield.

The Hatters have thrown away 19 points from winning positions this season.

Millwall have won one of their last 13 Championship matches and have taken two points out of a possible 12 under new boss Neil.

The Lions have scored either one goal or no goals in 18 of their last 20 league games and a league-high 12 of their fixtures have ended in 1-0 scorelines. Their games are averaging 1.9 total goals.

Prediction

Luton played pretty well in patches at Oxford on Tuesday but lost 3-2, having been 2-1 ahead.

Millwall completely bossed long periods of their home game against Cardiff on the same night, but drew 2-2 after blowing a two-goal lead.

The bottom line is that the Hatters and the Lions are in winless ruts right now, dropping down the Championship table like stones and spirits are sapping.

This showdown at Kenilworth Road, therefore, becomes a huge match, with new bosses Bloomfield and Neil searching for their first league wins.

Town actually have a pretty good home record with six wins, as many as third-placed Burnley, but look short enough given that they have forgotten how to win.

The Londoners are nothing if not stubborn on their travels with seven draws in 12 road trips. Promotion hopefuls Sunderland, Middlesbrough and West Brom have all conceded more goals away from home than Millwall have.

Indeed, only three teams allow fewer shots per game – Leeds, Burnley and Boro – than Millwall, who are getting plenty right defensively, but who are crying out for a top-class goalscorer.

Millwall are well aware they need to be avoiding defeat at teams below them and they can do that by stifling the Hatters in a low-scoring draw.
