- Arsenal have not won a league game at Anfield since 2012
- Liverpool have won their last seven home league matches
- Recommended bet:
Liverpool to win and both teams to score

The top two in the Premier League meet on Sunday afternoon, but it will not be the title decider it was being talked up as a couple of months ago.

Liverpool have already secured the title and Arsenal have been left with just pride to play for after the frustration of a midweek Champions League exit.

The Gunners have endured a poor recent record at Liverpool and with another party atmosphere expected at Anfield, Mikel Arteta will need a big performance from his side.

Team news

Arne Slot made several changes for last week’s defeat at Chelsea and is likely to bring back several key players for Sunday’s clash.

The likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz and Andy Robertson are expected to return to the starting XI, with the Reds looking to bounce back from the loss at Stamford Bridge.

Slot has revealed that Joe Gomez could feature before the season ends after a long-term hamstring problem, but this game will come too soon.

As for Arsenal, Jorginho has recovered from a hip injury and could be handed a start, having been an unused substitute in the midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Riccardo Calafiori returned from the bench in the French capital and should feature, but Arsenal are still without Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Jesus.

The stats

Arsenal have won just four of their last nine away games in all competitions.

Both teams have scored in four of Liverpool’s last five matches.

Nottingham Forest are still the only Premier League away team to have won at Anfield this season, with Liverpool unbeaten in 15 home league games.

Arsenal have scored in each of their last six away matches in all competitions.

Both sides have found the net in five of their last six meetings, including a 2-2 draw at the Emirates back in October.

Prediction

Liverpool were understandably off the pace at Chelsea last time out, following a week of title celebrations and a number of changes to the line up.

Arsenal were beaten at home by Bournemouth last weekend and despite a much-improved display against PSG, went out of the Champions League on Wednesday.

Having had a whole week to prepare for this game and with some of their key players fresh after being benched at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool should take some stopping in this clash of the Premier League’s top two.

The head-to-head record also favours the hosts, as there have been 11 league meetings at Anfield between these teams since Arsenal’s last win — a 0-2 success in September 2012.

It is also worth noting that four of the last six games between the sides have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
