Liverpool are closing in on Premier League glory and might even have the chance to secure the title on Sunday with victory over Leicester at the King Power Stadium, should other results have gone their way.

The Reds are 13 points clear at the top of the table following last weekend's 2-1 win over West Ham, after nearest challengers Arsenal had been held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford.

Leicester, meanwhile, are marooned in the relegation zone with just 18 points from 32 games.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's men did end an eight-match losing run in the league, during which time they failed to score a single goal, with a 2-2 draw against Brighton last weekend, but they are still 17 points from safety and will be relegated if they do not beat the leaders.

Team news

Leicester defender Wout Faes is expected to miss out, while Abdul Fatawu and Harry Souttar — who had been on loan at Sheffield United — are sidelined until next season.

Midfielder Harry Winks is expected play no part due to a disagreement with Van Nistelrooy.

Trent Alexander-Arnold returned to training this week after recovering from an ankle injury but may only be good enough for the bench.

Darwin Nunez has been struggling with illness recently, while Joe Gomez is sidelined due to a thigh issue.

The stats

Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester have not scored in the league at the King Power Stadium since early December

Leicester are winless in 10 games in all competitions, while they have lost eight home Premier League matches in a row without scoring.

Van Nistelrooy's men have conceded two or more goals in nine consecutive home matches.

Since exiting Europe and losing the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool have won two of three league games.

The surprise 3-2 loss at Fulham earlier this month is the Reds' only defeat in their last 28 league fixtures.

Prediction

Leicester's return to the Championship is all but confirmed and the Foxes will do well to keep leaders Liverpool at bay.

The Reds had won at Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain prior to that Craven Cottage reverse, which is their only away defeat in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool have scored three goals in each of their last three meetings with Leicester, including in a 3-1 win at Anfield in this season's reverse fixture, and they should have little problem in scoring against a side that has allowed 72 goals already this season.

While Slot's side have only kept one clean sheet in their last six games in all competitions, they can improve that as they now face a Leicester outfit that have been hopeless in front of goal, particularly at home.

The Foxes last scored at the King Power in the league in December and recently endured an eight-game losing barren run, so Liverpool should have no issues collecting the three points.
