Arsenal have a chance to close the gap on Premier League pacesetters Liverpool to just four points when they travel to face relegation battlers Leicester City on Saturday.

The lunchtime start at the King Power Stadium comes a full 24 hours before Arne Slot's side host Wolves and the Gunners will know that any realistic title ambitions are reliant on returning from the Midlands with all three points.

Leicester start the weekend in 18th spot, two points adrift of Wolves above them.

A further eight-point gap has opened up to West Ham, Everton and Tottenham and it surely means the Foxes are battling with Wolves and Ipswich to beat the trap door, with Southampton marooned at the foot of the table.

Team news

Ruud van Nistelrooy remains without Issahaku Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira, while late calls will have to be made on Jamie Vardy, Jannik Vestergaard and Victor Kristiansen after they all missed the FA Cup defeat at Manchester United.

Opposite number Mikel Arteta will have been hit this week with the loss of Kai Havertz for the remainder of the season.

Gabriel Martinelli has also been added to an injury list that includes further attacking options in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, as well as defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The stats

Leicester have lost eight of their last nine Premier League games and haven't scored in four home league games since a 2-2 draw with Brighton in December.

Leicester have won just two home league games this season in 12 attempts, scoring only 11 goals.

Arsenal have won the six Premier League meetings between these clubs since 2021.

Arteta's side are on 14-game unbeaten run in the Premier League following the 5-1 drubbing of Manchester City.

Arsenal won the reverse fixture 4-2 at the Emirates in September, needing two stoppage time goals after Leicester recovered from trailing 2-0 at the break to level.

Prediction

The late drama in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening has handed Arsenal some hope in the title race after Everton snatched a draw against Liverpool.

The Reds still hold a seven-point advantage but a win here can cut that lead back and Slot's side have Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle to face in a busy seven-day spell before February ends.

Arteta will know his side simply have to apply maximum pressure on the league leaders at this juncture.

They face a Leicester side in major trouble and without a goal in 360 minutes of Premier League football at home.

With Havertz now added to the list absent attackers for Arsenal, the onus will be on scoring contributions from around the team.

Skipper Martin Odegaard is back at full tilt after his injury woes and has scored two goals in his last four starts.

His creativity can be crucial against a Foxes side that has shipped at least two goals in eight of their last nine home games and the Norwegian can find the net again here.
