- Leeds and Sheffield United locked together at the top before midweek games
- Millwall sit down in 12th place
- Recommended bet:
Leeds to win and both teams to score

Title-chasing Leeds United suffered an untimely slip-up when they went down 1-0 at Portsmouth on Sunday, but the Whites can get back on course for promotion by overcoming Millwall at Elland Road on Wednesday.,

With Sheffield United only behind Daniel Farke's side at the top of the table on goal difference, the Blades can go above their Yorkshire rivals on Tuesday if they see off Bristol City at home.

Third-placed Burnley, who are two points behind, also in action on Tuesday evening, so Leeds could find themselves third before kick-off against the Lions and they can ill-afford another stumble at this key juncture of the campaign.

Team news

Leeds have no reported new injuries ahead of hosting the Lions, but Max Wober, Ethan Ampadu and Patrick Bamford are all still on the sidelines.

The visitors have significant injury issues to deal with for the trip to Leeds with Ryan Leonard, Calum Scanlon, Macaulay Langstaff and Camiel Neghli all still absent.

Zakariya Lovelace and Duncan Watmore are both rated as major doubts for the midweek game.

The stats

Leeds' defeat at Portsmouth on Sunday ended their 17-game unbeaten league run.

The Whites have the best home record in the Championship, registering 45 points from 18 games at Elland Road.

Millwall beat Leeds 2-0 at Elland Road in the FA Cup fourth round last month and also won 1-0 at home in the Championship in November.

Millwall have won their last two away games in the league, at Derby and Watford.

Prediction

Leeds are still the clear favourites to win the Championship, but the title race remains a tight three-way battle at this stage with Sheff Utd and Burnley poised to take advantage of any more slip-ups from Farke's men.

Portsmouth stunned the Whites at Fratton Park to remind everyone how competitive the second tier can be, but it looks highly unlikely Millwall can pull off another shock win, despite the Lions already enjoying two victories over Leeds this season.

The hosts were held to a 1-1 draw at home by West Brom in their most recent Elland Road assignment, but before that had registered four straight league victories in front of their own fans and they still have the best home record in the division, winning 14 of their 18 games.

Millwall are seven points off the play-off places with 10 games to go, which looks too much of a gap for them to bridge in the final months of the season, but they have shown plenty of good signs since Alex Neil took charge at the end of last year.

They have scored in 11 of their last 12 outings in all competitions and they can once again get on the scoresheet in midweek.

However, Leeds' defeat at the hands of Pompey should have served as wake-up call ahead of the run-in and they should respond with a vital victory.
