- Tottenham's Premier League games have averaged 3.44 goals per game this season
- Ipswich have scored in seven of their last nine matches
- Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals

The clock is ticking for Ipswich in their Premier League relegation battle but they are back in front of their home fans when they clash with Tottenham on Saturday.

The Tractor Boys are two points off safety with 13 matches left to play as they seemingly battle with Wolves and Leicester for 17th spot.

Defeat to Southampton in their last home game was a real low point in their season but they at least picked up a surprise point against Aston Villa last time out.

And confidence could be high ahead of this weekend's meeting with Tottenham, given they stunned the Lilywhites 2-1 when the sides met in north London back in November.

Team news

Ipswich have a lengthy list of absentees with Wes Burns, Chiedozie Ogbene, Christian Walton, Axel Tuanzebe, Conor Chaplin and Julio Enciso among those missing.

Sammie Szmodics, meanwhile, is pushing to feature despite just one appearance since he scored at Fulham in a 2-2 draw in early January.

Tottenham remain without Radu Dragusin, Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Richarlison but Rodrigo Bentancur, Kevin Danso and Heung-min Son should all be involved despite picking up knocks in the win over Manchester United.

The stats

Both teams have scored in each of Ipswich's last four matches in all competitions and two of those games have also produced over 3.5 goals.

Tottenham's Premier League fixtures have generally been high-scoring this season with their 25 assignments averaging 3.44 goals per game - only Wolves (3.56) and Man City (3.48) have higher averages in the division.

The Tractor Boys have scored in seven of their last nine fixtures in all competitions.

Ipswich have won four successive Premier League games against Tottenham, though their November victory was a first meeting since January 2002.

Ipswich remain the only side without a win in the Premier League so far in 2025, drawing two and losing four of their six games.

Prediction

For a portion of the season, goals seemed inevitable when Tottenham were involved and, while their recent affairs have not been as high-scoring, Spurs could still play their part in a humdinger at Ipswich.

In a clash between two underperforming sides, Tottenham edged Manchester United 1-0 last Sunday but there were 38 shots in the match and on another day the goals could have rained down.

Tottenham’s league fixtures have nonetheless averaged 3.44 goals per game this season and over 3.5 goals looks overpriced at Portman Road.

Conceding an average of two goals per game in this season's Premier League, Ipswich have not exactly been watertight and both teams have scored in each of their last four games.

But they put four goals past Coventry in the FA Cup fourth round recently and are spearheaded by Liam Delap, who has hit 10 goals in the Premier League himself.

Ipswich need to start chasing wins with Wolves improving and they should take confidence from the fact they won the reverse of this fixture earlier in the season.

Three of their last five matches have produced over 3.5 goals and this encounter in Suffolk should follow suit.
