Harvey Rodgers’ second-half strike earned Grimsby a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.

Cheltenham have been formidable at home and took the lead through Ethan Williams.

However, Grimsby went into the game after four wins from four in February, with Rodgers’ equaliser keeping them just outside the play-off spots.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 26th minute after a handball by Rodgers following a free-kick delivery from Williams.

George Miller stepped up, but Mariners goalkeeper Jordan Wright flew to his left and pushed it away.

Cheltenham took the lead less than two minutes later when Val Adedokun fed Williams, who finished low inside the right post from near the edge of the box for his second goal for the club.

Grimsby came close to replying before the break, with Evan Khouri’s effort easily saved by Joe Day and Cameron McJannett’s header turned over the bar by the Robins goalkeeper.

The visitors then started the second half well and deservedly levelled when Jason Dadi Svanthorsson reached the byline and crossed for Rodgers to slam in from close range after 53 minutes.

A poor clearance from Wright was charged down by Ethon Archer, whose shot towards the empty net was weak and the goalkeeper was able to recover and push it away for a corner in the 61st minute.
