Fulham to score over 1.5 goals

Fulham will fancy their chances of taking all three points when they entertain Manchester United at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening.

Marco Silva’s men have lost only one of their last 10 Premier League games and bounced back from that defeat at West Ham by beating Leicester 1-0 last weekend.

United were stung by the words of boss Ruben Amorim, who described the team as “maybe the worst” in the club’s history after Sunday’s 3-1 home loss to Brighton.

That result saw the Red Devils slip to 13th place in the table, six points behind 10th-placed Fulham, who have never finished above United in the Premier League era.

Only full-back Kenny Tete (knee) and winger Reiss Nelson (hamstring) are definitely ruled out for Fulham.

Silva could stick with the same side that beat Leicester 2-0 last weekend or recall Adama Traore, who scored as a substitute at King Power Stadium and has caused United problems in the past.

Sander Berge came in for Andreas Pereira against the Foxes and looks likely to keep the former Old Trafford midfielder out of the line-up again.

As for United, central defenders Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt came off with injuries against Rangers with Amorim later stating that both players had felt something in their legs.

Noussair Mazraoui was left out as a precaution after picking up a knock against Brighton and could return on the right of United’s three-man defence.

Jonny Evans remains out of action with a muscle injury while Victor Lindelof, who has started only one game under the Portuguese coach, was spotted in training on Wednesday.

Marcus Rashford also trained with the other senior players but has not featured in the last 10 first-team games.

Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte look likely to return to the starting line-up, but Mason Mount remains absent with a leg injury.

The stats

Fulham are on course to break a club record (11) for the fewest Premier League losses in a season after suffering only five defeats in their opening 22 matches of the campaign.

With 10 losses in their opening 22 games, United are on course to surpass last season’s tally of 14 defeats, which was their worst since the 1989-90 campaign.

The Red Devils have won each of their last seven visits to Craven Cottage.

In four of the past five Premier League matches between these clubs, the winning goal has come after the 87th minute.

Prediction

Fulham have found a goalscoring groove since they were last shut out at home to Southampton before Christmas.

The Cottagers have scored multiple goals in their last six games in all competitions and should do so again on Sunday.

United’s woeful defence has conceded two or more goals in six of their last nine games.

Amorim’s personnel does not appear to suit his system with the lack of a left-footed wing back and a general absence of pace among the central defenders proving to be problematic.

Fulham are dangerous out wide with Silva’s side having put in more crosses than any other team in the Premier League.

If those deliveries are good enough on Sunday, the home side can register two or more goals again.
