The European clay season reaches its crescendo over the next fortnight as the best players on the ATP World Tour contest the French Open at iconic Roland Garros.

Jannik Sinner is the top seed in Paris, although defending champion Carlos Alcaraz looks the man to beat having claimed his latest clay-court title in Rome last weekend.

Others, including 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and British fifth seed Jack Draper, will hope to topple the big two in the French capital.

Top two dominate the betting in Paris

Since the beginning of 2024, men's Grand Slam tennis has been dominated by Sinner and Alcaraz — the pair have shared all five titles between them — and the betting points to them fighting out the French Open final on Sunday, June 8.

Alcaraz is a 27/25 chance in LiveScore's outright market with Sinner next at 2/1.

Novak Djokovic, crowned Olympic champion on these courts last year, is 11/1 to seal a 25th Slam title, ahead of 2024 runner-up Alexander Zverev at 14/1.

Prediction

Alcaraz confirmed himself to be Rafael Nadal's heir as the King of Clay when he won his first French Open title last season, and it is difficult to go against the Spaniard, despite his short odds.

Alcaraz has proven on several occasions that he has the physical attributes to cope with the grind which is best-of-five tennis, and he arrives in Paris full of confidence following his title win in Rome, where he dismissed Sinner in the final.

World No.1 Sinner should come on for his first outing since winning the Australian Open at the start of the year, but his clay-court record is nowhere near that of Alcaraz, who has won 10 titles on the surface compared to just one for the Italian.

The draw has been kind to Alcaraz, who is housed away from almost all of his main market rivals, and he should make that advantage count by going back-to-back in Paris.

At a huge each-way price, consider the claims of Francisco Cerundolo, who is not without a chance of coming through quarter two at the expense of Djokovic and Zverev.

The Argentinian, well suited to the heavy conditions which he's likely to get in Paris over the next fortnight, has reached two semi-finals on European clay. He has become a regular at the business end of elite ATP Tour tournaments.
