Forest Green slipped to second in the National League table after a late equaliser from substitute Andrew Oluwabori earned Halifax a 1-1 draw at the New Lawn.
The hosts led through Kyle McAllister’s finish just past the hour mark before Oluwabori, having come on in the 73rd minute, drew things level with a shot with four minutes of normal time to go.
Steve Cotterill’s men are replaced at the summit by Barnet, who go a point clear following a 2-1 win at Yeovil on Wednesday.
Chris Millington’s Halifax stay eighth, now outside the play-offs on goal difference with a game in hand over seventh-placed Altrincham.
