West Ham and Everton will continue their preparations for the new season when they compete in the Premier League Summer Series in Chicago on Wednesday.

The two clubs should be at a similar level at Soldier Field, with Everton finishing 13th last season, just one place and five points higher than West Ham.

Several first-team players have left both the Hammers and the Toffees so far this summer, but transfer speculation will be put to one side when they go head-to-head in the USA.

Team News

Defender Kyle Walker-Peters did not make his debut for the Hammers against Manchester United but is being tipped to feature on Wednesday.

Fellow new arrival El Hadji Malick Diouf did play against the Red Devils and will look to build up his fitness against the Toffees with another run-out.

New Everton striker Thierno Barry was in action in the 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth in the Toffees' first Summer Series game, and he will look for more minutes against West Ham.

James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite are currently injured and missed the defeat on Saturday, while Toffees manager David Moyes did not name Michael Keane and Seamus Coleman in his squad for the clash against the Cherries and it remains to be seen if either of them will be recalled.

The stats

West Ham started their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win over Grasshoppers, but they were brought back down to earth with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in their first Summer Series outing.

Everton have played three friendlies so far, failing to win any of their recent matches against Accrington Stanley, Blackburn and Bournemouth.

The two Premier League games between the sides last season both ended in a draw.

Prediction

West Ham may have lost to Manchester United over the weekend, but a narrow 2-1 defeat will not dampen their spirits too much.

The Hammers face an Everton side that have a few players missing and Moyes has already bemoaned the lack of progress in the transfer market this summer.

Moyes believes his side needs six new recruits before the end of the transfer window, so Everton head into this clash with plenty of question marks over them.

The Blues' form in pre-season suggests they may make a slow start to the new campaign before Moyes gets to work with an improved squad and his old team West Ham look good value to pick up their second win of pre-season on Wednesday.
