Sunderland vs Aston Villa predictions: Villans can seal first Premier League win

Aston Villa have yet to score a Premier League goal this season
Sunderland are adapting well in their return to the top flight
Recommended bet: Aston Villa to win
Aston Villa’s start to the season has been a frustrating one to say the least. Unai Emery failed to truly strengthen the squad in the summer, signing just five players.
Not only have the club failed to win in the top flight, Villa have yet to score a single goal.
Meanwhile, Sunderland are adjusting to Premier League football seamlessly after an eight-year absence.
With just one defeat so far, the Black Cats occupy sixth place in the league table.

Team news
Sunderland will not be able to call on Leo Hjelde, Romaine Mundle, Aji Alese or Dennis Cirkin for the tie at the Stadium of Light this weekend.
On a more positive note, Enzo Le Fee could return to the starting XI after picking up a minor injury which saw him miss the 0-0 draw away to Crystal Palace. He remains a doubt, but there is every chance he makes the squad.
Elsewhere, Unai Emery will still be without Youri Tielemans and Ross Barkley for the match.
Victor Lindelof could return after missing the Brentford clash, while a late fitness test will be required for Amadou Onana as he battles back from a hamstring injury.
The stats
The last time these two teams met was during the 2018/19 season in the Championship. Villa triumphed both times, scoring five goals and conceding only once.
Sunderland won the last Premier League match between the two clubs, however, although that came all the way back in January 2016.
The Black Cats have conceded only three goals in four league matches, scoring five goals in the process.
In comparison, Villa have the worst attacking record in the top flight, drawing a blank in all four games so far. A 3-0 defeat to Palace in August was particularly worrying for Emery and it looks as though they are suffering a long hangover after missing out on the Champions League last term.

Prediction
Despite the contrasting form between the two clubs after four matches, Villa are certainly due a win and it could come this weekend.
New signing Harvey Elliott scored in the EFL Cup clash against Brentford in midweek. If he can replicate the form which saw him score five goals for England in the U21 European Championship during the summer, he will be an excellent signing.
Jadon Sancho and Evann Guessand struggled out wide in midweek, but if the duo can showcase their true ability, Sunderland could be in for a tough match.
Villa are bound to end their scoring drought sooner or later and the clash at the Stadium of Light should see Emery’s men finally get off the mark in the Premier League.
