Manolo Gonzalez has guided Espanyol to 10 points from a possible 12 ahead of a trip Real Madrid
  • Real Madrid are the only team to have won all four of their league games

  • Barcelona and Espanyol are hot on their heels on 10 points

  • Four teams still on the lookout for their first wins of the season

Not even a 72nd-minute red card could prevent Real Madrid from beating Marseille 2-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday and Xabi Alonso's team will look to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions when they entertain Espanyol on Saturday.

There are nine other ties taking place in Spain this weekend, with the highlight being Valencia's home clash with Athletic Bilbao at the Mestalla.

Real Betis vs Real Sociedad (Friday, 8pm)

Unlike some of their rivals, Real Betis have played five games already this season and they have only lost one of those fixtures.

They have collected six points from five games and face a Real Sociedad side who have collected two points from four outings.

Clean sheets have been hard to come by for both teams and an entertaining draw looks likely.

Score prediction: Real Betis 1-1 Real Sociedad

Girona vs Levante (Saturday, 1pm)

Both Girona and Levante are searching for their first wins of the new season and it is tough to split these two teams.

Levante have scored in three of their four games this season, while Girona have been unable to trouble the scoresheet on two occasions.

Score prediction: Girona 1-1 Levante

Real Madrid vs Espanyol (Saturday, 3.15pm)

Real Madrid have already made a flying start to the new season and it is tough to see Espanyol stopping them.

The visitors have conceded at least two goals in two of their last three league games, while Los Blancos have netted twice at least in four consecutive matches.

Score prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Espanyol

Alaves vs Sevilla (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Alaves have become a bogey team for Sevilla in recent years and have avoided defeat in the last four meetings between the two teams.

After a slow start to the campaign, Sevilla have picked up four points in two games, but they should struggle to outclass Alaves, who have only lost once this season.

Score prediction: Alaves 1-1 Sevilla

Villarreal vs Osasuna (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Home advantage should prove crucial in this tie, with Villarreal winning both of their league games, scoring seven goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Osasuna have yet to score on the road this season and are set to be sunk by the Yellow Submarine.

Score prediction: Villarreal 1-0 Osasuna

Valencia vs Athletic Bilbao (Saturday, 8pm)

After a 6-0 thumping at the hands of Barcelona last weekend, Valencia will look for any positive result, but they should fall short against an Athletic Bilbao team who have collected nine points in four games.

Score prediction: Valencia 0-1 Athletic Bilbao

Rayo Vallecano vs Celta Vigo (Sunday, 1pm)

Four consecutive 1-1 draws suggest Celta Vigo are happy to dig in when it matters and they will need to do the same against a Rayo Vallecano side who recently held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw at home.

Score prediction: Rayo Vallecano 1-1 Celta Vigo

Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid (Sunday, 3.15pm)

Mallorca's inability to keep clean sheets should come back to bite them this weekend.

They have conceded nine goals in four games, which is not ideal when Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid visit, hoping to extend their unbeaten run in LaLiga to four matches.

Score prediction: Mallorca 1-2 Atletico Madrid

Elche vs Real Oviedo (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Elche have already picked up strong results against the likes of Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Real Betis and they should prove too much for Real Oviedo, who have scored one goal all season.

Score prediction: Elche 2-0 Real Oviedo

Barcelona vs Getafe (Sunday, 8pm)

Barcelona have made a strong start to their title defence, but they will be put through their paces this week.

Hansi Flick's team are unbeaten in nine meetings with Getafe, but the visitors have scored six goals in four matches and will go down swinging.

Score prediction: Barcelona 3-1 Getafe
