LaLiga predictions - Week 3

Villarreal top LaLiga after winning their opening two matches 2-0 and 5-0
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also started the season with back-to-back wins
Girona, Oviedo, Sevilla and Levante are all yet to pick up a point
There is a shock leader after two games in LaLiga, with Villarreal sitting pretty at the summit after winning their opening fixtures by an aggregate score of 7-0, leaving them ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid on goal difference.
Another exciting weekend in the Spanish top flight can be expected and we have previewed all 10 matches below.
Elche vs Levante (Friday, 6.30pm)
Draws with Real Betis and Atletico Madrid mean Elche’s top-flight return has gone much better than Levante’s.
Friday’s visitors have lost their opening two games and that familiar feeling may arrive again, with their hosts full of confidence after their impressive results.
Score prediction: Elche 1-0 Levante
Valencia vs Getafe (Friday, 8.30pm)
It is two wins from two for Getafe but they may have to settle for a point at Valencia, who have lost just one of their last seven matches at the Mestalla and are a team on the up under Carlos Corberan.
Score prediction: Valencia 1-1 Getafe
Alaves vs Atletico Madrid (Saturday, 4pm)
A defeat at Espanyol and a draw with promoted Elche is hardly the start title hopefuls Atletico Madrid would have hoped for, and things may not get any better in the Basque Country.
Alaves have four points to their name after two games and are unbeaten in five home matches, suggesting they can earn a point on Saturday.
Score prediction: Alaves 0-0 Atletico Madrid
Real Oviedo vs Real Sociedad (Saturday, 6pm)
Clashes with Villarreal and Real Madrid yielded no points for promoted Real Oviedo but they should fare better against a Real Sociedad side who have managed just one win in 10.
Score prediction: Real Oviedo 2-1 Real Sociedad
Girona vs Sevilla (Saturday, 6.30pm)
Girona are propping up the table after losing their first two games 3-0 and 5-1 but that should come as no surprise given they have taken just 16 points in 2025.
Sevilla are also in a bad way, though, amassing just 19 points since New Year’s Eve themselves, and the struggling pair are likely to cancel each other out.
Score prediction: Girona 1-1 Sevilla
Real Madrid vs Mallorca (Saturday, 8.30pm)
Xabi Alonso has yet to get Real Madrid’s attack firing on all cylinders but two clean sheets in two LaLiga games shows he has worked his magic at the back.
Mallorca have amassed just 0.84 expected goals across their opening two games and are unlikely to lay a glove on Los Blancos.
Score prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Mallorca
Celta Vigo vs Villarreal (Sunday, 4pm)
League leaders Villarreal have enjoyed a sensational start to the season and should have no issues in keeping that up at Celta Vigo, whose midweek draw against Betis means they are winless after three games.
Score prediction: Celta Vigo 0-2 Villarreal
Real Betis vs Athletic Bilbao (Sunday, 6pm)
Athletic Bilbao are another side with a perfect record but they may be held to a draw by Conference League runners-up Betis for the third head-to-head in a row.
Score prediction: Real Betis 2-2 Athletic Bilbao
Espanyol vs Osasuna (Sunday, 6.30pm)
The departure of goalkeeper Joan Garcia was supposed to leave Espanyol in real trouble but they have been fine without their stopper, beating Atletico Madrid and drawing at Real Sociedad.
That makes them worthy favourites against Osasuna, who have managed just four shots on target in their two matches combined.
Score prediction: Espanyol 1-0 Osasuna
Rayo Vallecano vs Barcelona (8.30pm)
Champions Barcelona have picked up where they left off, scoring six goals while winning their opening two games, and they can land another big win at Ray Vallecano, who will be fatigued after Thursday’s Conference League qualifying clash.
Score prediction: Rayo Vallecano 1-3 Barcelona
