  • Bournemouth have won their last four matches against Everton

  • Everton kept just three clean sheets in their last 15 Premier League fixtures

  • Recommended bet: Bournemouth to win

Everton are keen to make an impression in their first season at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium and their preparations continue with three fixtures in the 2025 Premier League Summer Series, starting with a clash against Bournemouth at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday.

The Toffees finished the 2024-25 Premier League campaign with the wind in their sails, winning their final three fixtures.

They ended 13th on 48 points, which was a decent effort for a club which had reached the halfway stage with just 17 points from 19 games.

Bournemouth were ninth, which was their joint-highest finish in a Premier League campaign.

However, the Cherries won just three of their final 13 top flight matches and they will be hoping to regain some confidence and consistency in the run up to the new campaign.

Team news

Jordan Pickford returned to full training last week but was not involved in the recent 1-0 loss at Blackburn. He might share minutes with Mark Travers, who will be keen to feature against his former club.

Idrissa Gueye, Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O'Brien made their first pre-season appearances against Rovers and are likely to stay in the starting XI. Orel Mangala (knee) is a long-term absentee.

Bournemouth could look to include goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic and left back Adrien Truffert after their summer arrivals from Chelsea and Rennes.

Enes Unal (knee) isn’t expected to be involved until October.

The stats

Bournemouth have scored in 10 of their last 12 competitive games

The Cherries lost only two of their last eight Premier League matches

Bournemouth have started the scoring in three of their last four matches against Everton

Ten of Everton’s last 12 Premier League games have featured less than three goals

Everton have scored less than two goals in nine of their last 12 top flight games

Prediction

Bournemouth were involved in a race for European qualification for large parts of last season and they can show their quality by defeating Everton in their opening match at the 2025 Premier League Summer Series.

Andoni Iraola’s side have been fairly quiet in the transfer market although they seem to be doing a good job in keeping the bulk of their squad together.

The Cherries are an exciting, attack-minded side and their xG at the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season totalled 72.62 which was the fifth highest in the division.

Everton relied more on their defensive diligence, conceding just 44 Premier League goals which was the joint-fourth-lowest in the division.

However, the Toffees have struggled in pre-season, drawing 1-1 with Accrington and losing 1-0 to Blackburn, and they face a step up in class against Bournemouth, who are worth backing to take the victory.
