Swansea vs Leicester predictions: Swans could just hold the edge

  • Swansea aiming to build on midweek victory at Blackburn

  • Leicester aiming to end a run of four straight Championship draws

  • Recommended bet: Swansea to win

Leicester have not found life in the Championship that straightforward since relegation and while they have lost just one of their eight matches, a run of four consecutive draws has stifled their progress and they may struggle in Saturday’s trip to Swansea.

The Swans look to have a decent chance of improving on last season’s finish of 11th and their record at their Welsh base suggests the Foxes will not be in for an easy ride.

Team news

Ricardo Santos is yet to feature for Swansea this season and he will continue to sit things out this weekend, so no changes are expected for the home side following their 2-1 success at Ewood Park.

Changes may also be thin on the ground in the Foxes camp after they drew 1-1 with Wrexham.

Defender Harry Souttar is out with an Achilles problem, which means that Marti Cifuentes is limited regarding any changes he can make at the back.

The stats

Both teams have scored in Swansea’s last five home matches in all competitions.

The Swans are unbeaten in their last 11 games on their own patch.

Six of Swansea’s eight Championship games this season have featured fewer than three goals.

Leicester have lost one of their last nine matches against Swansea.

The Foxes have drawn their last four games.

Leicester have kept just four clean sheets in their last 39 league games.

Prediction

Leicester endured a miserable campaign in the Premier League last season and would have hoped they had made more progress in their opening weeks back in the Championship, which perhaps makes them vulnerable at Swansea.

Preston are the only team to have got the better of the Foxes since they dropped back in the second tier, but Cifuentes’s side have been frustrated by four successive draws, the latest of which came against promoted Wrexham at the King Power in midweek.

Sitting sixth before the start of the weekend’s fixtures was not a disaster, but they may not be able to improve upon that when they face Welsh opposition for the second time in a few days.

Swansea are playing well enough to suggest they can finish better than the 11th place they secured last season and confidence should be high in the camp after they claimed a 2-1 success at Blackburn on Tuesday.

They have not been beaten in their last 11 home games and were further boosted by a stirring League Cup win over Nottingham Forest last month, so they can claim a victory over another East Midlands outfit this weekend.
