  • Norwich have won just two of their five league matches this season

  • Wrexham have picked up just four points from their first five league games

  • Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals

Norwich have improved of late having suffered three defeats in their opening five games of the season.

The Canaries drew against Coventry last time out, having secured all three points away at Blackburn at the end of August.

Wrexham have struggled in the transition from League One to the Championship, winning a single league game this season and lost to QPR last weekend.

Team news

Norwich will be missing several key players this weekend with Ben Chrisene and Mathias Kvistgaarden out until the end of October with hamstring and knee injuries respectively.

Elsewhere, Liam Manning will not be able to call upon Gabriel Forsyth, Forson Amankwah or Lucien Mahovo either, with the trio expected to be out until the end of September.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is able to welcome back both Josh Windass and George Thomason to his squad for this clash.

Nathan Broadhead is also available, but Jay Rodriguez, Danny Ward and Liberato Cacace are unlikely to be fit.

The stats

This will be the first competitive meeting between the two teams since 1982. Indeed, Wrexham have claimed only one victory against the East Anglian side in their history, a 2-1 win in the FA Cup 55 years ago.

Norwich have scored in every single Championship match of the season thus far, although they have kept only one clean sheet in the process. Of their opening seven matches in all competitions, five have seen three goals or more.

Remarkably, all but one of Wrexham’s matches this season have seen both teams scoring, while their 2-0 win over Millwall at the end of August is their only clean sheet of the campaign so far.

Parkinson’s side have featured in plenty of high-scoring matches, with five of their seven games in all competitions seeing four or more goals being scored.

As such, they boast the third-worst defensive record in the division.

Prediction

If one game in the Championship is guaranteed goals this weekend, surely it is this fixture.

Wrexham will be buoyed by the returns of Windass, who opened his account in the game against Southampton but has not played since the West Brom defeat on August 16, and their record signing Broadhead.

Kieffer Moore, however, is the dangerman for Wrexham. The Welshman has already netted five goals across from just six games since moving from Sheffield United in the summer.

Josh Sargent is one to watch for Norwich, enjoying his own impressive scoring run this season. With six goals from his first five appearances this season, the American will be keen to find the back of the net after being keep off the scoresheet by Coventry last time out.

Wrexham have shown that they can score goals at this level, but the problem is they also concede plenty.

Combine this with Norwich’s ability to score regularly and it could be a game with plenty of action at both ends of the pitch.
