Derby vs Preston predictions: North End to triumph on the road

Derby earned their first league win of the season against West Brom
Preston have lost just once in the Championship this season
Recommended bet: Preston to win and both teams to score
Derby play host to Preston at Pride Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Preston began the season strongly, winning three of their opening four games. Since a 1-0 win against Ipswich at the end of August, however, the club has lost two and drawn one of their last three games.
Derby, on the other hand, claimed their first league win last week against West Brom and are unbeaten in the Championship since a 5-3 loss to Coventry in August.

Team news
Derby will be without striker Rhian Brewster due to a groin injury. He missed the West Brom clash last week and is expected to be out for between 2-3 weeks.
Curtis Nelson remains out until October, while Sondre Langas and Corey Blackett-Taylor will also not be involved. Owen Beck could be in contention for a place in the squad as he continues his recovery from a calf problem.
For the away side, Paul Heckingbottom will be without Will Keane, Robbie Brady, Milutin Osmajic, Brad Potts and Jordan Thompson for this match.
The stats
Since 2008, Preston have won just three times against Derby and all those victories came between 2020 and 2021.
Derby took four points off Preston last season, winning 2-0 at home and drawing 1-1 at Deepdale.
This season, Derby have scored in every single league and cup match so far, with both teams finding the back of the net in six out of their seven fixtures.
Preston have only failed to score in one game so far, which came against Portsmouth just before the international break. In total, four of their seven matches have seen both teams score.
Heckingbottom’s men currently occupy eighth place in the table, a single point outside of the play-off places.
In comparison, Derby are languishing down in 19th place on five points, although recent performances have brought about an improvement for John Eustace’s side.

Prediction
Derby may come into the match buoyed by defeating West Brom last week, but it will be a tight affair at Pride Park.
Preston came within a few minutes of sealing an impressive win against Middlesbrough last week, conceding a late equaliser to the Championship leaders.
Loanee Lewis Dobbin scored for the second time this season in that game and he could play a key role for North End once again. Carlton Morris has been the form man for the home side, notching four goals already this season.
Both sides have drawn twice apiece in the Championship so far and with goals likely in this exciting matchup, Preston can end their four-year hoodoo against Derby and secure another three points.
