Blackburn welcome Ipswich to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon and will be aiming to win their first home game of the season.

Ipswich, meanwhile, got their first victory of the campaign with a convincing 5-0 win over bottom club Sheffield United and manager Kieran McKenna will be looking for another three points as his team look to climb the table.

Team news

Blackburn midfielder Adam Forshaw is yet to feature this season due to a muscle problem while Axel Henriksson missed the trip to Watford and will be assessed.

Scott Wharton, however, started his first league game in nearly 18 months on Saturday after suffering an ACL injury in April 2024 and will again be available for selection.

Ipswich midfielder Sammie Szmodics picked up a swollen ankle on international duty with the Republic of Ireland but was able to play half an hour for the Tractor Boys on Friday night at Portman Road.

Harry Clarke (knee) and Cameron Humphreys (calf) are also back in training and available for selection.

The stats

Blackburn’s six points this season have all been earned on the road.

Ipswich, along with Coventry and Southampton, are the Championship draw specialists with three each.

Blackburn have won six of the last eight meetings with Ipswich at Ewood Park.

Ipswich and Blackburn have each received eight yellow cards and one sending off in their opening five Championship matches of the season.

Prediction

Blackburn narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs last season and will be hoping for another push at the top six under Valerien Ismael.

So far, Rovers have won their opening two away league games — a feat they had to wait until November to achieve last year. However, they now need to address their home form having lost three games at Ewood Park in league and cup.

The visit of Ipswich is less than ideal as the Tractor Boys seem to find their groove against Sheffield United and boast the quality to go on a consistent run under the guidance of manager McKenna.

Jaden Philogene scored a hat-trick in the victory over Sheffield United and will be looking to cause more havoc against Blackburn.

After gaining experience in the Premier League in the last campaign, Ipswich have been slow to get going back in the second tier, but they have only lost one game and will no doubt be up and challenging for the top spots come May.

With the pressure on Blackburn as the home side, Ipswich can take advantage and will be confident of adding to Rovers’ woes on their own turf.
