Red Devil redemption

Wilfried Zaha says he is "not bothered" that his Manchester United career did not work out.

The winger made just four appearances for the Red Devils in the 2013-14 season before returning to boyhood side Crystal Palace and is set to face them again with new club Galatasaray in the Champions League tonight.

When asked about his doomed Old Trafford spell, he said: "I'll be honest, when you look at my face do you think I am bothered at all? No.

"Realistically, I think I went through a phase where you either build from it or you die out from it. And me personally, I was never going to die out from it.

"It built my character for me to just continue my career because I was determined to not let my career die out because I went somewhere and it didn't work out.

"I was just determined to reach where I wanted to reach and I am here today."

Different demands

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Erik ten Hag is struggling to deal with the demands placed on managers at Manchester United.

The iconic forward played for both Ajax and the Red Devils and believes that the Old Trafford hotseat comes with more pressure.

He told Piers Morgan Uncensored: "Coming from Ajax to United as he did is a big difference. I have been in both clubs.

"The players [at United] are supposed to be big stars. I don't think you give the same treatment.

"How much time do you give a coach? It depends on the owners, what they want, but if you listen to the fans, you don't have a lot of time because they want to win."

Bukayo Saka picked up a knock at Bournemouth last Saturday

Mikel Arteta has no concerns over Bukayo Saka's fitness after the winger hobbled off against Bournemouth last Saturday.

The England star had been a doubt for that match after picking up an issue against Tottenham a week earlier but Arteta says that he has recovered well ahead of tonight's Champions League tie with Lens.

The Gunners boss said: "He's fine, he's much better.

"Obviously he took a big knock but he's recovered well and he trained today. It's great if he's available and we will make that call."

Rafa Benitez was angry after Celta Vigo were denied a goal by VAR

Rafa Benitez hit out at VAR after Celta Vigo were denied a goal in their 2-1 LaLiga defeat to Las Palmas on Monday.

Benitez's side thought they had opened the scoring when Jorgen Strand Larsen found the net but it was overruled after a foul was adjudged to have been committed in the build-up.

The former Liverpool manager reacted angrily, saying: "I don't understand where the foul is.

"We will have to play something else if that is a foul. Anyone can see it, it makes no sense to call those things. It can't be, this is football.

"We're not talking about ping pong. We're continually rowing against the current."

Long time coming

Chelsea striker Armando Broja said scoring on his first Premier League start for nearly a year at Fulham on Monday was an "unbelievable feeling".

The Albanian forward suffered a serious knee injury during the Blues' winter training camp in 2022 and had not started a league game for 324 days.

But after netting the second for Mauricio Pochettino's side in a comfortable 2-0 win, he said: "It's been a long time coming.

"I'm so happy for the team to win the game and carry on this momentum going forward.

"It's amazing. I always dreamed as a little kid of playing in the Premier League and scoring as many goals as I can.

"We were struggling a bit but it's two wins on the bounce now and hopefully we can continue that momentum."

Emma Hayes and Ian Wright have been honoured with Legends of Football awards.

The pair join illustrious names such as Pele, David Beckham, Arsene Wenger, Gareth Southgate and Ellen White in being recognised at the ceremony, held in honour of music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins.

On the announcement of her award earlier this year, Hayes said: "I'm thrilled to be recognised among some of the biggest names in the game and can't wait to join the illustrious company in the Legends of Football Hall of Fame.

"I'm delighted to accept the award alongside a true footballing legend in the shape of Ian Wright."
