Fleetwood and Barrow played out a dismal goalless draw at Highbury Stadium.

Two mid-table sides produced a typical end-of-season affair.

Barrow impressed early and Ben Whitfield produced a smart diving save from Fleetwood goalkeeper Jay Lynch.

The hosts responded in the 19th minute with a double chance.

Mark Helm’s initial shot was parried by goalkeeper Wyll Stanway, with Owen Devonport lashing over the rebound from an acute angle.

Just before the interval the Bluebirds threatened again when Sam Foley fired narrowly over the top from 20 yards.

Fleetwood almost went in front minutes after the restart when Danny Mayor fired over the top.

Town striker Helm then glanced a header inches off target.

At the other end, Ben Jackson’s half-volley thumped the crossbar as Barrow responded.

Barrow sub Aaron Pressley then screwed an effort agonisingly wide from close range.

Helm had the ball in the Barrow net late on, but an offside flag curtailed home celebrations.
